In order to make your operating system full-proof and protected against virtual threats when you are connected to the internet, you will need an internet security technology.

AVG Internet Security 2012 is the latest available product from AVG Technologies. It's simple to use, fast, and efficient.

After the quick installation process, the AVG standard interface will be displayed in a window split in two parts.

On the left you can see some tabs, and the right side shows you information about each one of them.

In Overview mode, you can view the status of the anti-virus, LinkScanner, e-mail protection, Firewall, anti-rootkit, system tools, PC analyzer, and identity protection.

The anti-virus component will protect you from viruses, worms, Trojans and spyware, while LinkScanner will block any suspicious third-party connections that try to connect to your computer.

E-mail protection scans incoming and outgoing e-mails, and filters spam, while system tools offers you information about processes, network connections, autostart, browser extensions, and LSP viewer.

You can choose to scan the whole computer, only specific files or folders, or only for rootkits. Scheduling scans is also possible, and updates are automatically done on a regular basis, you can also manually look for them.

AVG Internet Security 2012 uses a normal amount of memory resources, but it is thorough and rarely wrong. Before rejecting any other internet security technology different than your own, try AVG and see how it fits.
